A Message from our CEO: The Virtual Walkathon

As we begin World Autism Awareness Month - in the middle of a worldwide Pandemic - “celebrate responsibly” simply sounds like a tag line from a beer commercial. Citizens everywhere however, confined to the safety of their homes, have taken to the internet to do just that, finding virtual ways to do things they would otherwise do in person (concerts, dance parties, etc.)

In a recent message, our Founder & CEO, Debra Vines, decided that we must also find a way to forge ahead with our biggest celebration of the year - The 2020 Autism & Special Needs Walkathon - which is usually the first week of May, and is usually a culmination of a whole month of celebrating the world greatest children and young adults, as well as the best parents, families, and friends in the world. This year however, the call to “celebrate responsibly” has given birth to our first ever “Virtual Walkathon.”

For those familiar with The Answer Inc’s Annual Autism & Special Needs Walkathon, not much changes, leading up to the big day - which is now May 15TH. However, with the inability to gather, we will simply have to celebrate from our sofa, treadmill, or while walking our dogs.

With the walkathon being our biggest fundraiser of the year, Debra reminds us that with so much uncertainty surrounding government funds that may or may not come - help is needed more than ever… and she urges everyone to log on to www.TheAnswerInc.org where you can become a fundraiser or a sponsor and help us continue to be there for families impacted by Autism & Other Developmental Disorders.
