Beyond Autism Awareness or Acceptance Month.
The Autism Community will always remember April 2021 as the year of the big shift — from Autism Awareness Month to Autism Acceptance Month. However, as April 2021 comes to an end, The Answer Inc would like to remind everyone that while the month is ending, the work is far from done.
We would like to remind everyone that raising awareness is a year round 24/7 job, and that building a world where anybody and everybody is accepted — is what we are all dreaming of and working toward.
So… as we look beyond April 2021, we would like to acknowledge some noteworthy sharibles, that we hope will inspire you, throughout the rest of the year, to keep forging ahead.
First Up — we have a YouTube video that will give you a great appreciation for what it’s like to live with Autism. The short 2:06 video is appropriately named: Autism TMI Virtual Reality Experience, and it was created with autistic people to help give you an idea of what it can be like to get too much information.
Next Up — we have an inspiring film that is sure to light your fire. It’s about a special education instructor's tireless efforts to find her students a place in the real world as they prepare to leave the public school system.
One of the driving missions of The Answer Inc. is to de-stigmatize society’s opinion of individuals living with Autism & Other Developmental Differences and to help each and every child and young adult that we serve… live their best life.
We hope that our selected shareables above, will help you better appreciate what it’s like to be living with autism, and light a growing fire inside that drives you to do whatever you can to help us build a better world for everyone.
Now, If you are like us, and you believe that Autism Acceptance Month came and went, way too fast… and you are ready to keep pushing thru the rest of the year, to help create that better world. Then, you can start by helping us raise some much needed funds, and supporting our 2021 Autism & Special Needs Walkathon.
Please also remember that our Autism & Special Needs Walkathon is our largest fundraiser of the year, and that we need your help now, more than ever, as we continue on our charge to improving and enriching the quality of life of families impacted by Autism and Other Developmental Differences, by providing support, resources, education, recreation, and advocacy.
